Celebrity News: Beyonce’s Super Bowl Performance Receives Both Love & Shade!
By: Christopher Mobley
The Super Bowl is arguably the biggest sporting event of the year. Who’s a better choice to receive the honor of performing at the most viewed event of the night than Beyonce herself? Many people say that the halftime show is actually their favorite part of the Super Bowl, and Queen Bey showed exactly why with an exciting performance of her latest single, “Formation”. It’s no wonder why celebrities and fans alike showed a tremendous amount of love for the singer.
However, one person in particular seems to not have enjoyed the halftime performance. Former Mayor of New York City, Rudy Giuliani, viewed it as a disrespectful attack towards police. “I thought it was really outrageous that she used it as a platform to attack police officers, the people who protect her and protect us and keep us alive,” said the former mayor while appearing on Fox & Friends. Guiliani later said that the African American community should “build up respect for police officers and focus on the fact that when something does go wrong, OK, we’ll work on that”.
Not only does Guiliani disapprove, but there are also anti-fans of Beyonce that have taken to Twitter to show their disdain. What in particular rubbed these few people the wrong way? Was it the nod towards the Black Panther party? Perhaps it was the fact that Beyonce addressed Hurricane Katrina and police brutality in her video. Maybe her critics just dislike the fact that an artist is bringing attention to topics that many people are uncomfortable having an honest conversation about, especially in the mainstream media. Either way, Beyonce still and always will have both critics and those who love her talent. Check out Beyonce’s new Video, ‘FORMATION’ Below…
